Abortion is not just a simple medical procedure. For many women, and men as well, it is a life changing event with both significant emotional and spiritual consequences to consider.

Most women who struggle with past abortions say that they wish they had been told of the consequences about abortion. You have a right to understand the physical, emotional and spiritual impacts of having an abortion.

Physical Impact-
About %10 of woman suffer immediate complications from an abortion procedure. Of those woman %20 of those complications are life-threatening... such as excessive bleeding, convulsions, cervical injury and endotoxic shock, the list goes on. 

The actual abortion procedure is not the only physical threat. A U.S. study showed that the rate of attempted suicide increased 10 times for teenagers who had abortions in the previous 6 months. There are also many long-term physical complications-

*Your chance of getting breast cancer doubles after your first abortion and increased immensly after any further abortions.

*Your chance of getting cervical, ovarian and liver cancer also increases.

*If your cervix or uterus is damaged during an abortion it is possible that you may not be able to have children in the future when you want to start a family.


Emotional Impact-
Many women experience strong negative emotions after they have an abortion. Sometimes this occurs within days, and sometimes it doesn't happen until many years later. This physchological response is known as Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS). Several factors that impact the likelihood of Post-Abortion Syndrome include: the woman's age, the abortion circumstances, the stage of pregnancy at which the abortion occurs, and the woman's religious beliefs.

Spiritual Consquences-
People have different understandings of God. Whatever your present beliefs may be, there is a spiritual side to abortion that deserves to be considered. Having an abortion may affect more than just your body and your mind -- it may have an impact on your relationship with God. What is God's desire for you in this situation? How does God see your unborn child? These are important questions to consider.
